Basic Requirements:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study or specific course requirements generally as stated in paragraph A in the individual occupational requirements.
Where specific course requirements are not indicated in paragraph A, the number of semester hours required to constitute a major field of study is the amount specified by the college or university attended. If this number cannot be obtained, 24 semester hours will be considered as equivalent to a major field of study. The nature and quality of this required coursework must have been such that it would serve as a prerequisite for more advanced study in the field or subject-matter area. Related coursework generally refers to courses that may be accepted as part of the program major.
Specialized experience:
GS-7:
Education: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement.
SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Demonstrated by a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with one of the following. NOTE It is your responsibility to ensure your application clearly states how you meet one of the provisions below:
o A grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last 2 full years of undergraduate study;
o A GPA of 3.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale for required courses completed in a major field of study, or those courses completed in a major field of study during the last two years of undergraduate study;
o Class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision of the college;
o Membership in a national Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College Honor
Societies, excluding freshman honor societies.
Specialized Experience: 1 year equivalent to at least GS-5
GS-9:
Education: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree
Specialized experience: 1 year equivalent to at least GS-7
